This single-function model measures 9.7” x 14.6” x 15.1” (H x W x D) and weighs under 21 lbs., so it won’t take up valuable real estate on your desk. The max print speed in 32ppm with a top resolution of 1200 x 1200 dpi.
While the only connection option to your PC/Mac is USB, if you need a network connection you can purchase the 5370-DW ($234.99, Amazon) which gives users a network or wireless option, or the 5370-DWT ($299.49, Amazon) which has network and wireless connectivity and adds an additional paper tray standard. All three of these are virtually the same basic printer, with each price point adding different features.
The 5340-D is not without its own upgrades. The standard configuration includes a 250-sheet input tray and a 50-sheet multi-purpose tray as well as 16MB of internal RAM. In terms of paper, one can choose to add an additional one or two paper trays (called LT 5300, $128.99, Amazon) which will each hold 250 sheets bringing the total capacity to 800 sheets. The memory’s expandability may be more impressive at a max of 528MB (base memory, plus one additional slot for memory. Another saving grace of this machine is its standard automatic duplexing.
In terms of ink, there is both a standard capacity toner cartridge (about $74.99) and a high yield toner cartridge (about $119.99). The standard one will yield roughly 3,000 pages, and the high yields about 8,000 pages before running out.
Overall, this is good, but not great printer that produces high quality text at a very reasonable pace. It is best suited for home office or small business scenarios which don’t require sharing and there is room on one’s desk.
