The PIXMA iP100 Photo Printer, first released in 2008, is the successor the iP90 and there are some improvements worth noting. For starters, the paper tray on this machine can hold 50 sheets of paper now, as opposed to the iP90's 30. Also it has almost doubled the number of print nozzles (1,856 compared to 1,088), ensuring an even higher quality print.
It utilizes ChromaLife inks which come in two containers, one for black ink (PGI-35), and one for color ink (CLI-36). Unfortunately, the iP100 does not come with a built-in card reader like some of its competition so users must use either the PictBridge (cable not included) or USB 2.0 port to connect to a digital camera.
The iP100 is both PC and Mac compatible and has a maximum print resolution of 9600 x 2400 dpi. It is not a very large printer, measuring 2.4" x 12.7" x 7.2" (H x W x D). It will print at a maximum of 20 pages per minute for black and white jobs and a maximum of 14 pages per minute for color jobs. The iP100 can also print a borderless 4" x 6" photo in about 50 seconds.
Overall, the iP100 is a good effort from Canon and a worthwhile addition to anyone in need of a small and mobile printer.
