New York, NY -- Reviewed initially by PrinterComparison.com in April 2010, the Pixma iP2702 was released alongside the Pixma MX870 and the Pixma MX350 and may have faded quickly from peoples’ minds. However, it is worth noting that is provides many of the same features as more expensive models, (which we discuss in a minute) for $50.
The iP2702 has maximum print speeds of 7ipm and 4ipm for black and color respectively. It is somewhat small, measuring 5.2" x 17.6" x 9.8" (H x W x D) and weighs under 8 lbs.
It is specifically designed for printing high-quality photos, so if you want to print documents, this is not the printer for you. As we said above, it includes many of Canon’s best photo features such as AutoFix II and can output a 4” x 6” photo in under a minute. It’s maximum resolution is 4800 x 1200 dpi. Unfortunately, the printer’s only connection option is a USB cable (not included).
In terms of ink, the iP2702 uses a two cartridge system with a PG-210 (black) and a CL-211 multicolor. They do have high yield equivalents because the ink is very expensive. Remember our mantra, cheap printer, expensive ink. The standard yield cartridges are available as a set for $36.98 and the high-yield cartridges are just $12 more at $48.98 per set.
If you are looking for a good quality, but inexpensive photo-only printer, then this is a good one to consider as long as you can stomach the cost of the consumables.
