It is both PC and Mac compatible, and you can connect your digital camera to it via it's PictBridge slot. In terms of print speed, this Pixma will print a maximum of 26 pages per minute for black and white jobs, and 21 pages per minute for jobs with color. The Pixma iP4600 will print photos very rapidly at about 20 seconds per photo. It also offers the user two input trays, one for normal size paper and the other for a variety of different printing needs.
A very useful feature that almost any user will appreciate is the automatic double-sided printing. The Pixma iP4600 uses five separate ink cartridges for its printing: a pigment-based black ink for text (PGI-220) and four dye-based inks (CLI-221) for black, magenta, cyan, and yellow for color ink. It will print at a maximum resolution of 9600 x 2400 dpi, very good for a printer at this price point. As the PC World reviewer noted, one strange exclusion from this photo printer are memory card slots for direct printing. Another missing feature normally associated with photo printers and several AIOs, it the LCD screen for photo previewing and editing. Overall, the Pixma iP4600 is a reasonably priced printer that will satisfy many home users and amateur photo takers.
