New York, NY -- Yet to be released, the Pixma iP4820 is a single-function inket printer from Canon. PrinterComparison.com’s Sarah Meyer has gotten a hold of one though, and provides some preliminary results and impressions.
As it is with most single-function printers these days, the iP4820 is fairly compact. The printer’s dimensions are 6.0" x 11.7" x 17.0” (HxWxD) with trays tucked in and with the trays fully extended, the measurements go to 6.0” x 21.7” x 17.0”. This is another printer from Canon’s latest innovations which now come in a sleeker-looking black exterior with a silver band and a small Pixma logo placed in the middle of the top.
The iP4820 supports a five-ink cartridge system with a pigment-based black ink, the PGI-225 and four dye-based color cartridges, all CLI-226s for cyan, magenta, yellow, and photo black. To replace the ink will cost you It’s paper capacity is 150 sheets, so likely sufficient for anyone buying a single-function inkjet printer. If you need more room for paper, look into a personal laser printer which potentially offers lower running costs and a comparable price.
The printer does not come with any built-in wireless capability and can be connected to your PC via USB cable. For $49.99, a Bluetooth adapter is available if you have/need that functionality.
This printer, the Pixma iP4820 certainly seems like it provides all the functionality and print quality we have come to expect from Canon. Based on the specifications, we’d most likely recommend it for either student use or home use. The printer should be out in the next couple of weeks, so if it interests you, be on the lookout.
