Reviewed earlier this month by Computer Shopper, the Epson
Workforce 610 Printer
is the latest offering from Epson in its Workforce line. It is a 4-in-1
model offering users the ability to print, copy, and scan at a maximum resolution
of 9600 x 9600 dpi. It has an average footprint, measuring 12" x 22.1" x
18.1" (H x W x D), and weighing about 18.3lbs. It is a very fast printer,
capable of speeds up to 38 pages per minute for both black and white and
color jobs.
The Epson
Workforce 610 Printer
comes with a 2.5" LCD and a very intuitive front panel. Users can print
photos without their PC either via a PictBridge port or utilizing one of
the memory card slots (xD, MS, SD, and CF). However, what it possesses in
speed of printing documents, it lacks in the speed of printing photos. The
is both PC and Mac compatible, and be connected via Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or
USB. It offers users a 30-page ADF located on top of the machine, but lacks
an automatic duplexer, so that must be done manually. Paper loads from a
100-sheet maximum input tray located towards the back of the machine.
In terms of ink, the Epson
Workforce 610 Printer
utilizes a four-cartridge Durabrite ink system with cartridges for black,
cyan, magenta, and yellow (all Epson 69s). There is a high-capacity option
for the black cartridge (Epson 97) and for the color ones (Epson 68s). As
a note of caution about print speed, the Computer Shopper reviewer noted
that quality is sacrificed for speed a bit in Draft mode. Overall though,
the Workforce 610 is a very solid option for a home office or small business
where printing and copying are the two heaviest functions needed.
