New York, NY -- Reviewed in June 2009 by PrinterComparison.com, the D2660 is part of HP’s simple, but effective DeskJet line. Designed for function, not form, this printer is about as easy to set up as it gets. You are literally ready to print as soon as you take the printer out of the box and remove any packing materials.
The D2660, as a personal printer, is small in size measuring only 6.77 x 17.83 x 8.15 (H x W x D) and weighs just a tad under 6 lbs. Its only connection option is a high-speed USB 2.0 cable (not included in the box). It is compatible with Windows 7 and Mac OS X v10.6, but we would recommend getting the latest drivers and software download directly from HP’s support site.
For those environmentalists out there, this is a very green printer. The device itself is made from at least 50% recycled plastic. Each of the two ink cartridges (HP 60s, black and tricolor) are also made from 50% recycled plastic.
The printer can handle a maximum of 80 sheets at a time, and it can print on paper other than 8.5 x 11”. The D2660 supports 4x6”, 5x7”, 8x10” and envelopes. The text print quality is rated to be excellent, especially for a machine at this price, though it won’t print much faster than 15ppm, so a little patience is required. Color photos however were not as good as some more expensive HP printers.
Overall, for the price and performance, you could do a lot worse. The D2660 is easy to set up and should be a relatively hassle-free personal printer for someone who does not have high demands or expectations.
