New York, NY -- Reviewed in 2009 by PC Magazine, the LaserJet P4014n is one of the most robust printers that HP offers for busy small to medium sized offices or workgroups. It offers blazing fast print speed topping out around 45ppm. The monthly duty cycle is listed by HP at a heavy-duty 175,000 pages per month, so it should be able handle whatever you throw at it.
As you would expect from a printer with that type of duty cycle, it also comes with a base paper input of 600 pages divided among a 500-sheet drawer and a 100-sheet paper tray. For an additional $249 each, you can add two more 500-sheet drawers and a 1500-sheet drawer for $499 adding up to a total capacity of 3,100 sheets.
Need a duplexer? While one is not included in this model (it is in the HP4014dn priced at $1179), you can add one for $275 which adds up to $4 less than the dn model. The text print quality is not the absolute best, but is more than sufficient for everyday business applications. Graphics are good enough for internal use but you may want to outsource any major presentations. The toner cartridges are priced at $172.99 each and yield 10,000 pages which makes the cost roughly a very reasonable 1.7 cents per page.
If you need more than the 3,100 sheet capacity, you could consider the LexmarkT650n which can hold up to 4,000 sheets at a time (though it’s base configuration only holds 350), is a bit less expensive, and the cost per page is essentially the same. The HP LaserJet P4014n is network ready out of the box, and according to the reviewer, set up is a breeze. Overall, the P4014n should meet or exceed any needs of your business.
