HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer Review
Date: December 16, 2011
Offices or busy home office users in need of a heavy-duty inkjet printer will definitely want to consider one of the newest offerings from HP, the Officejet Pro 8600 Plue eAIO. This 4-in-1 (print, scan, copy, and fax) has a robust 25,000-page maximum monthly duty cycle, and offers blazing fast print speeds up to 20 ISO ppm black and 16 ISO ppm color.
It comes with 4.3” CGD touchsreen display which provides access to various web apps as well as the ability to preview photos before you print them. It is Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and USB 2.0 enabled so you have freedom as to where you place it as well as make it shareable over a home network. With its revolutionary ePrint technology you can simply email output to your printer from any other web enabled device such as tablets or smart phones. Additionally, the device is AirPrint compatible which extends its capabilities further when paired with iOS and Android powered devices.
The paper tray on the Officejet 8600 Plus can accommodate up to 250 sheets of paper at once, so it should not have to be refilled very often. The unit also features the ability to do unattended scanning, faxing, and copying via a 50-sheet capacity ADF. A nice additional feature for users is that in addition to the automatic two-sided printing, the scanning and copying can be automatically duplexed as well.
The ink system for the 8600 Plus is comprised of four individual ink tanks. For these latest office-centric printers, HP’s new ink capacities are high, even in standard-capacity cartridges. If you or your office prints a lot, the high yield models or equivalents provide great value for the extra pages.
Overall, the Officejet 8600 Plus should be able to handle just about anything small businesses or home offices can throw at it. In their coverage, PC Magazine noted that the print quality for text and graphics were both very good and the device has a very low running cost.
