This all-in-one (print, scan, copy, and fax) released by HP in April of this year is a solid choice for a small or medium sized business looking for a machine with lots of features but at a reasonable price. The J6480 has several nice features built-in: wireless capable, autoduplexing, an automatic document feeder (up to 35 pages), OCR scanning, and more. On the front panel of the J6480 there are a variety of memory card slots (xD, Memory Stick, SD, and CompactFlash), but lacks one for PictBridge connections. It is a large machine at 10" x 18.7" x 18.6" (H x W x D), so it is not one that is easily moved around your desk or office. Color printing and scanning can be done at up to 4,800 x 1,200 optimized dpi while black and white is reasonable at 2400 x 1200 dpi. The J6480 is both PC and Mac compatible and prints pages at a reasonable pace; color pages print at up to 25 pages per minute and black and white at 31 pages per minute. One nice feature of this machine is the solidly built 250 page input tray. It has an adjustable arm which can adjust to any paper size. One drawback to the J6480 is its photo printing speed compared to other similar printers in this price range. This printer tends to be a bit of an ink-hog, so buying the XL capacity cartridges may be a wise move. It uses an HP 74 for it's black ink and an HP 75 for the tri-color cartridge. Overall, this is a feature-rich printer for a good price suitable for small or medium sized business or an advanced home office.
