The HP Photosmart C8180
by HP is another solid effort by a company known for quality printers. It has come down in price almost $150 since its original release. Though not the fastest printer, it will print up to around 34 pages per minute for black and white and 33 pages per minute for color prints. The C8180 will scan or copy at a maximum optical resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi.
Another nice feature geared towards photo enthusiasts is the memory card bay which supports Compact Flash, xD, SD/MMC, and Memory Stick cards and also offers a PictBridge port for direct connection to your digital camera. This Photosmart is both PC and Mac compatible and can be connected to your machine via USB cable, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth. It also offers dual paper trays-though neither is adjustable-one for 8.5" by 11" paper and the other for 4" x 6" formats. The C8180 utilizes separate ink cartridges(HP 02) for its six-ink bay (black, light cyan, light magenta, cyan, magenta, and yellow) , making it easy to replace only that color when it runs out. The better than average print quality can make up what this machine lacks in print speed. Most defects in print quality were very slight at worst, making this printer a worthwhile purchase for home or home office users.
