Lexmark C734dn Printer Review

Reviewed earlier this month by Computer Shopper, the C546dtn one of the latest offerings from Lexmark in its laser printer line. It is a reasonably fast laser printer churning out pages at about 25 pages per minute for both monochrome and color jobs. The C546dtn is well-proportioned for a small business and a laser printer measuring 24.6 x 24.0 x 20.5 in. It also has a maximum print resolution of 1200 x 1200 dpi and is compatible with both PCs and Macs.

The C546dtn has 250-sheet capacity cassette (that can be adjusted to handle various media) on the bottom, and immediately beneath it is the detachable 550-sheet capacity tray as well as a pull-out, 100-sheet multipurpose feeder. There is a USB/PictBridge port located on the front of the machine that will allow printing without your PC, however the C546dtn lacks any memory card slots and an adequate LCD for previewing of photos. It can be connected to your PC via USB or Ethernet, and for additional funds, a Wi-Fi adapter can allow wireless connectivity. The C546dtn has a few other features worth noting; a built-in autoduplexer to save paper, Lexmark's patented EcoMode, and an extremely efficient warm-up fuser.

In terms of ink, the device uses four separate toner cartridges (all high yield), black (C54x / C540H2KG), cyan (C54x / C540H2CG), magenta (C54x / C540H2MG), and yellow (C54x / C540H2YG). There are also extra high yield cartridges available in all four colors. Small businesses will be especially thankful for its robust duty cycle of 55,000 pages per month. The C546dtn overall is well suited for any home or small office with its fast printing, features, and pricepoint.
