Reviewed earlier this year by PC World, the Lexmark
C734DN Printer
is a solid printer that can function well in almost any office. It is a
very quick machine, offering users speeds up to 30 pages per minute for
both black and white and color jobs. Most laser printers are not small,
and the C734dn is no different measuring 17.7" x 17.1" X 20.7" (H x W x
D), and weighing close to 60lbs. Print resolution is a maximum of 1200 x
1200 dpi for both monochrome and color jobs.
The out-of-the-box paper trays can hold a maximum of 650 sheets (a550-sheet
input tray and a 100-sheet multipurpose tray), but it is possible to purchase
additional stackable trays(550-sheet input tray costs $299; a 550-sheet
drawer for narrower media (such as envelopes) costs $359; 2000-sheet input
feeder costs $599) that combine with the standard tray to give a total of
3,750 sheets maximum. It also comes with an automatic duplexer to save paper.
One nice feature worth noting here is that the multipurpose tray can take
banner paper up to 36" in length, which sets this machine apart a bit from
the competition.
The Lexmark
C734DN Printer
has a 4-line, 2.7" monochrome LCD screen that is tiltable located on the
front of the machine. It is both PC and Mac compatible and even offers a
PictBridge/USB port on the front of the machine. In terms of ink, the C734dn
takes 4 separate toner cartridges: black (C734A2KG), cyan (C734A2CG), magenta
(C734A2MG), and yellow (C734A2YG) and each have high-yield upgrades. The
machine comes with starter-sized toner for each, which will last about 4,000
pages and replacing it is fairly inexpensive; the 8,000-page black cartridge
costs $134 and the three color toner cartridges, rated at 6,000 pages, run
$212 each. The PC World reviewer did notice some oversaturation of colors
when printing jobs at higher quality. The standard software does come with
color management tools that could potentially help that situation. Overall,
theLexmark
C734DN Printer
is a very good, sturdy, and reliable printer for almost any sized office.
