Originally reviewed by Computer Shopper in September 2009, the Lexmark Platinum Pro 905 Printer
is the top printer (in price and value) of their new line of AIO inkjets. It is a 4-in-1 machine that includes a printer, fax, scanner, and copier.
It offers users a maximum print speed of 33 pages per minute for black and white jobs and 30 pages per minute for color jobs. It outpaced the competition in photo printing as well, spitting out a 4" x 6" photo in roughly 26 seconds in best mode. It does not have a small footprint, measuring 12.1" x 18.31" x 22.88" (H x W x D) with trays extended and weights a hefty 25.6 lbs. The printer's input paper trays (two come standard) will hold up to 150 sheets of paper per tray, and has a slim 50-sheet ADF.
In terms of ink, the Lexmark Platinum Pro 905 Printer
uses four separate cartridges, all Lexmark 100As (and reasonably priced), in black, cyan, magenta, and yellow. Each of these cartridges also have a high-capacity (XLA) option as well. It is both PC and Mac compatible and offers a maximum optical resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi.
There are a few notable features that set it apart as well. First, it offers Wireless N connectivity, which increases its range almost 3 times over competition with Wireless G or B connectivity. It can also be connected to your machine via USB cable or Ethernet. It offers a variety of choices for memory card slots as well as a PictBridge port. The Pro 905 also has an outstanding (and intuitive) touchscreen 4.3" LCD. Overall, if you are a home office or small business looking to print high quality text or graphics and don't want to pay laser jet prices, the Platinum Pro 905 should suit all your needs and maybe more.
