New York, NY -- The Prevail Pro 705 is in the middle of the lineup of printers for SMBs which Lexmark debuted almost a year ago. It comes with the convenience of four devices in one machine: printer, scanner, copier, and fax machine.
Offering print speeds of up to 33ppm and 30ppm for black and color respectively, the Pro705 delivers a max print resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi. This unit is slightly larger than its “little brother”, the Prospect Pro205. It measures 9.83 x 18.31 x 15.42” (H x W x D) and weighs about 20 lbs.
The Prevail Pro705 comes standard with a Wi-Fi connection, but can also be connected via a USB 2.0 cable. The input tray on the Pro705 device can handle up to 150 pages at a time and also comes with a 50-page ADF. Two-sided (or duplex) printing comes standard with this model and is automatic. Of added convenience for the business professional is the ability to scan up to 8 business cards at a time and have the information transferred to your computer’s address book (Windows only).
In terms of ink, the Prevail Pro705 has four-cartridge ink system with slots for black, cyan, magenta, and yellow. All of the ink cartridges that ship with the unit use Lexmark’s high definition Vizix ink. Because this model is geared towards businesses, Lexmark is kind enough to ship the unit with high-yield ink cartridges to help productivity.
Overall, for the price we have not found many printers that offer what this printer does. It comes with a larger paper tray than the Prospect Pro205 (150 compared to 100 sheet capacity) and a larger ADF (50 compared to 35 page capacity). During our search for prices, we found this printer actually cost less than the Prospect Pro, so if you are in need of a new printer, this may be a great time to buy it.
