New York, NY -- According to an article appearing today on the PC Magazine website, Canon has just released 5 new Pixma printers. All of these models have the latest version of AutoFix II which has improvements over the previous release. New to this line from Canon is the “high-definition Movie Print feature.” In addition, Canon’s Easy-PhotoPrint EX software now allows consumers to search Flickr which they can then print and use.
Two of the multifunction printers which have been released are capable of wireless connections to your PC or Mac. The first of the two models, the Pixma MG5220 Wireless Photo AIO printer, boasts five individual ink tanks (pigment black, cyan, magenta, yellow, and black). Automatic duplexing is a standard feature and it comes with a 2.4” TFT screen. Capable of a maximum resolution of 9600 x 2400dpi, the MG5220 can reportedly output a 4x6” photo in 20 seconds. The next printer, the Pixma MP645 Wireless Photo AIO printer, comes with an automatic scanning program which will adjust the scan settings on the glass to based on the type of document. Its maximum resolution is not as high as the MG5220, maxing out at 4800 x 1200dpi. The MP645 can print a 4x6” photo in about 41 seconds. For both of these models, the wireless setup can be done simply by pressing one button through a Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS).
The next two MFPs do not offer the same convenience of Wi-Fi printing. The first of these models, the Pixma MG5120 Photo AIO printer offers a 2.4” LCD and maximum print speed of 9.7ipm. The maximum resolution is 9600 x 2400 dpi like the MG5220 and can print out a photo in approximately 29 seconds. The second non-wireless printer is the Pixma MP280 Photo AIO printer. It is capable of printing a 4x6” photo in about 43 seconds at a maximum resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi.
The last of the new printer models is a single function printer, the Canon Pixma iP4820. Among its best features are the five individual ink tanks and automatic duplexing. The Pixma iP4820 has a maximum 9600 x 2400 dpi resolution and produces a 4x6” photo in about 20 seconds.
No timeframe has been given for the availability of these printers. When they are released, the Pixma MG5220 will sell for $149.99, the MP495 for $79.99, the MG5120 for $129.99, the MP280 for $69.99, and the iP4820 for $99.99.
