Introduced by Canon USA, this initiative is geared towards reducing the environmental impacts of the products they produce and sell. Canon’s website says that the following products are included in this are eligible Canon scanners, PIXMA inkjet printers, and imageCLASS laser printers, copiers and fax machines, and imageFORMULA DR-Series scanners. They are using this as a means of informing businesses and consumers about Canon’s green products and services. One of their main targets is reducing costs through energy efficiency.
To further help the environment, from May 1 through August 31 of 2009, Canon, in conjunction with the Arbor Foundation agreed to plant one tree for each Generation Green product registered. At the time of writing, this number is an astonishing 17,575 trees that have been planted.
