What is ColorLok Technology?

Created by a company of the same name, ColorLok was introduced in 2008 as a means to get higher quality prints from inkjet printers. Their three-fold approach to ensuring better copy is advertised on their corporate website as:

• Faster drying -for less smear and faster handling time
• Bolder blacks - for crisp, sharp text
• Vivid colors - for richer, brighter images and graphics

So then the obvious question is how do they accomplish this. According to ColorLok, the paper they produce contains special additives to produce results. The additives chemically react with printer ink which results in the ink sinking deeper into the paper leaving the pigment on top. Many large companies have endorsed ColorLok. The two notable printer manufacturers are HP and Kodak; and a variety of paper manufacturers have bought in as well including Georgia-Pacific, International Paper, and COPAMEX.
