Wilmington, DE -- According to WDEL 1150AM, a talk radio station based in Delaware, the state’s governor has
decided to gradually move the state paperless. Governor Markell believes that this will save the taxpapers at
least 380 thousand dollars per year.
Effective December 31 of this year, Department of Technology and Information and the Office of Management
and Budget will consolidate their printing efforts and make several of their documents available online.
Following that, the offices will then be selling off their printers.
There are six other printing jobs that the administration would like to see modified or eliminated over
time. These consist of “production of budget information, driver's manuals and dog and boating licenses.”
These maneuvers will produce a total estimated savings of 615 thousand dollars in the current fiscal year and
the year after.
