Energy Star Printers - Guide

The Energy Star program helps consumers make decisions for purchases that will help save money and preserve the environment. Products that qualify for an Energy Star are more energy efficient and reduce impact on the environment.

Printers are no different from refrigerators on this front. New printers, scanners, and AIO (All-in-One) devices are more energy efficient and produce less waste than their predecessors, meaning savings for consumers in the short and long term.

Qualifying for Energy Star status mean that printers or scanning equipment must meet the Energy Star requirements. The requirements are:

• Delivering the same quality as conventional equipment, while using less energy and saving the user money.
• Designing efficient equipment that runs cooler and lasts longer, so that there is less maintenance and waste.

The government sponsored Energy Star website claims that an energy-efficient printer could save you $115 over the life of the products. New printers that meet the requirements are available for under $200.
