Following up last year's release of the Artisan 700 and 800, Epson has announced the release of the Artisan 710 and 810 multifunction printers available in August. Both machines feature six individual cartridge bays for their ink cartridges. They also both boast automatic double-sided printing. The 710 will retail for about $180 and the 810 for about $300.
The new Epson Artisan 710
, according to Epson, offers print speeds up to 38 pages per minute in either color or black and white. It can also print a 4" x 6" photo in about 10 seconds. It has a 48 bit scanner with a maximum optical resolution of 2400 dpi. It can be connected to your Mac or PC via a USB cable, Ethernet port, or wirelessly using a Wi-Fi connection. The Artisan 710 offers a PictBridge port as well as other slots for memory cards so you can print directly from your digital camera. It also has a 2.5" tilt LCD screen for viewing and editing photos.
The new Epson Artisan 810
, according to Epson, offers print speeds that are equal to that of the 710. There are some differences between the 2 models, and not just in the price. The Artisan 810 has a 48 bit scanner that has a maximum optical resolution of 4800 dpi. It can also be connected to your Mac or PC via a USB cable, Ethernet port, or wirelessly via a Wi-Fi connection. It comes with the same options for printing directly from your camera as the Artisan 710. One big difference however is the 7.8" display panel and the 3.5" tilt LCD. The 810 also comes with a built-in 30 page automatic document feeder for scanning and copying.
