European Union Begins to Green Printing Practices

Date: February 18, 2010

New York, NY -- It was recently announced on a British ink reseller website, Internet-Ink, that the European Union (EU) would make the switch to using recycled toner cartridges instead of purchasing new ones. They were purchasing upwards of 10,000 cartridges each year, which as anyone who has bought ink knows, is a very expensive endeavor. The move comes after a British group for remanufacturing cartridges called Kleenstrike, lobbied for the legislation. They received the backing of Liberal Democrat MEP Chris Davies who pushed for the change. The move could save up to 40 percent of taxpayer money and are more eco-friendly, according to a spokeswoman for the UK Association of Toner and Inkjet cartridge remanufacturers.
