New York, NY -- According to a piece by Jeremy Kirk which appears on the PC World website, Windows 7 users may find some issues with printer drivers for their HP machines. HP does expect to release some soon, but did not offer an exact date.
HP suggests that people should use their newer products with Windows 7, but for many of them, that can mean purchasing a new printer. This has caused some complaints on HP forums over the past several months. Also, many of the products that had drivers for Vista, will not be getting Windows 7 drivers.
A spokeswoman for the company has been quoted as saying about the delay: “really has to do with making sure that all the drivers work smoothly for the customers who make the Windows 7 change”, as quoted by Mr. Kirk, from an e-mail response he received. The spokeswoman went on to say further: “HP worked with Microsoft to make sure that the majority of current/recently launched products supported Windows 7 at launch and continues to work with them to ensure the smooth transition moving forward.”
At this point, HP will not divulge which drivers will be released and in what order. For the time being, the quickest approach to finding a driver will most likely be checking and re-checking the product page for their respective machines. Hopefully some of the missing drivers will be available sooner rather than later.
