New HP Digital Printing Press

Mercury Print Productions, a printing company in New York, is installing a Hewlett-Packard Indigo W7200 Digital press to increase their productivity. This heavy duty HP printer will be used for book publishing.

The press prints 240 color images, in contrast with most home printers that can print around 2 pages a minute.

The press is roll-fed, and uses liquid electrographic printing to pump out these massive quantities. It can produce millions of pages per month, and will be featured in PRINT 09.

Mercury has a steady relationship with HP, and they have also added HP print server technology to their business.

The Indigo W7200 produces 8-bit resolution in monochrome up to 7-color jobs. This is a printer that can easily be used for print-on-demand and high-production jobs.
