New York, NY -- According to a press release issued today and posted on HP’s corporate web site, they announced today the rollout of several new services which include enhancements of their Managed Print Services (MPS) and also making mobile printing even more possible.
First up, with their MPS, they have developed a new tool called Smart Decision Suite which allows companies to manage their printers through analysis and reporting which can be predictors of future printer use. These processes will run seamlessly in the background, enabling remote access and management of print devices. It will also allow access to “device and solution availability, an optimally deployed fleet, real-time access to information and, as a result, improved efficiency and cost savings.”
In addition, HP’s JetAdmin service has been expanded and upgraded to allow IT departments control over remote printers connected either via network or USB. This will allow them to push down rules about things such as automatic duplexing as well as color access control.
The other innovation introduced by HP was their ePrint Enterprise mobile printing solution. This new tool was created from the existing HP Cloud Printing technology already being used in conjunction with BlackBerry® smartphones. It is the result of HP and Research In Motion’s (RIM) strategic alliance which was announced in 2009 and is the initial application of the ePrint strategy HP has developed. It will be available at locations worldwide including FedEx Office and Hilton Worldwide giving secure printing capabilities to mobile enterprise workers.
The ePrint locations set up are run in conjunction with and the PrinterOn network of printers which are referred to as PrintSpots, the result of a strategic partnership between the two parties. The first stations will be available by June 2010. PrintSpots are already in place (minus the HP technology part) in 1,300 Hilton Hotels and subsidiaries.
HP’s Enterprise Production Print Solutions contains a full suite of choices that allow for “onsite, offsite, and near-site production print capabilities.” These include the following:
HP Onsite Copy/Print and Mailroom Services which allow day-to-day operations management
HP Enterprise Services Document Processing Services for the digitizing, storing, archiving, and retrieving documents
HP Virtual Print Center for the on-demand dissemination of printed materials
