Denver, CO -- According to the website NewsandTech.com, HP is actively soliciting newspapers as content partners as part of its new ePrint venture. The announcement was made during the Innovative News Conference currently being held in Denver. According to the new business development manager, Mr. Larry Tracy, that HP would like to “add more newspapers to its stable of companies providing information to consumers through their home or office printers.”
These ePrint machines were announced June 7, but are not currently available yet in stores or direct from HP/
As of right now, two news wire services, Reuters and USA Today have signed on to provide news content. Both Yahoo and Crayola will also play a role, but neither company is involved in disseminating news. Mr. Tracy also said that HP feels like adding more newspapers is a smart way of increasing not only the type but the number of providers.
The idea of such printers gained some momentum last year after some trials HP worked with MediaNews Group. The evaluations of these products were held in both Los Angeles and Denver to help HP get an idea of how consumers would use these innovative products.
