HP launches program for wide format printers

After a successful run starting at the beginning of 2009, HP announced they would expand the media recycling program to Europe. This free program can be utilized by either printers or brand owners provided the substrates were produced by HP. For instance, the some of the products include HP's HDPE reinforced banner, Tyvek banner, and its heavy-textile banner and wrinkle free flags. That business or entity in return can request a recycling box from HP. The program will initially apply to HP customers in Italy, Spain, Switzerland, UK, Turkey, Belgium, France, Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands. Once the box is filled, it will be sent to a firm in Italy for the rest of the processing and then reprocessing into new materials. The original impetus for the project in the U.S. came from users of HP's Designjet L65500 who couldn't find a willing recycling company because of the low volume. The program was trialed by six different European businesses with successful results.
