What Does Invisible Ink Mean for the Printer Industry?

Date: June 22, 2010

New York, NY -- Invisible ink, what was once thought to be the stuff of international spies (or kids pretending to be spies) and the like, now may have a use in the printer industry. The blog post appeared on the Databazaar website courtesy of Sean Doherty.

Some printer companies have such products currently in use like Epson, whose NDY-117 ink has garnered an interest from bars and night clubs. Xerox has developed a dry ink technology as a means of security when it comes to documents.

Kodak is now the latest printer company to try their hand at making invisible ink. Currently it is being used in their production presses, it will appear when placed under the correct light. This may all sound over the top, but Doherty asserts that invisible ink may be able to replace barcodes and other such nuisances on packages or lables we find in stores.
