Rochester, NY -- Announced November 11 on PrintingNews.com, Kodak has decided to add Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) capabilities to its VERSAMARK VL2000/2200 and VL4000/4200 Series of printing systems. The unique feature that Kodak brings to the table by incorporating this technology is that the MICR system comes as an accessory, rather than a replacement, which can save time and money. The move is intended to benefit special needs of transactional and commercial printers who offer check printing and security printing services.
Kodak’s system will allow MICR printing to run at speeds ranging from 246 fpm to 492 fpm (feet/minute). Using a dedicated accessory and imaging MICR inline , the turnaround time is significantly reduced and saves companies’ money. p>
This solution is tailor-made for a plethora of uses “including the production of business checks, personal checks, coupons, convenience and balance transfer checks, and other transactional documents.” MICR printing has typically been offered by transactional and commercial printers who work with direct mail, transactional, loyalty, and check printing clients.
Kodak has said that this new technology will be available sometime during the first half of 2010.
