To increase security and help fight counterfeiting, Kodak has produced a new security ink for use in their VERSAMARK printers, the VL2000/2200 and VL4000/4200 Printing Systems. These features are invisible to the naked eye.
The ink is currently available worldwide and is ideal for use with things such as coupons or ballots to ensure their authenticity as well as documents that require any type of transactional documents which need to be verified. The industries best suited for this ink are those corporations actively engaged in printing of transactional documents, checks, and direct mail printing, to name a few.
Another notable feature of this ink according to Kodak is its ability to track and trace via barcode readers. It is possible to have invisible barcodes printed that when scanned, can reveal its use and location when scanned. The ink is applied by the printers during a process in which the information is printed on non-optically brightened papers, thus making it invisible under normal UV light. The ink becomes visible only under long or short wavelength light when the ink fluoresces the print with a whitish blue color and that enables verification and authentication.
