Lexmark Gets Big Deal From SSA

Date: June 1, 2010

New York, NY -- According to a press release on their corporate site, Lexmark announced on May 27 that they had managed to agree with the Social Security Administration (SSA) on a new, 5 yr. blanket purchase agreement (BPA). This deal will be worth roughly $127 million in revenue for Lexmark and will include both color laser printers and MFPs.

The printers will be used by the SSA’s 62,000 employees spread across 1,500 worldwide locations. Each piece of equipment purchased will come with a 5-year warranty as well as accessories and other supplies.

The SSA chose Lexmark for this venture because of “its laser printers and MFPs met SSA’s technical requirements and were recognized as the most Section 508 accessible for individuals with disabilities.” The example was given of Lexmark’s ability to access all functions of an MFP through the PC, instead of a touch screen.
