New York, NY -- We have posted tidbits before about the advantages of using managed print services (MPS) in a company. By helping companies cut printing costs, printer companies are able to generate profit for themselves. Lexmark, which has had a lot of success in this market and a report from Bloomberg that was picked up by Recycler site dated August 27 asserts that Lexmark may move more towards MPS in the future. To that end, Lexmark is moving away from low cost printers and instead focusing on higher-end devices.
The Recycler cited Lexmark’s recent purchase of Perceptive Software for $280 million as a major indicator that they are moving in this direction. In addition, Lexmark’s second quarter profits from 2010 showed an increase from the previous year to this year of 20%. One of Lexmark’s most successful MPS contracts has been with Coca-Cola which Lexmark helped reduce from 6,000 printers across its fleet to 3,800.
