In a recent news story on the PC World website, it has been announced that Brother has produced a new line that includes 2 color printers and 3 new color AIO devices for the home or home office. The two color printers are the HL-3040CN and HL-3070CW, due out in September 2009, they are priced at $299 and $349 respectively.
The HL-3040CN can print up to 17 pages per minute in either color or black and white. Using their LED-based print technology allows the machine to get a resolution of 2400 x 600 dpi. Also included is a 250-page capacity paper tray, and the ability to connect the printer either via USB 2.0 cable or Ethernet.
The HL- 3070 offers much of the same functionality as the 3040, but also allows the user to connect to the printer wirelessly. It also has a USB interface which allows direct printing of files from a USB thumb drive. Finally it offers the user both PCL and Postscript compatibility.
The new AIO devices are priced slightly higher than the printers as one would expect. These models will hit stores for the first time in October. They are the MFC-9010CN, MFC-9120CN and MFC-9320CW priced at $399, $449 and $499 respectively. The MFC-9010CN shares the same resolution and print speed as the 3040-CN, but also has the ability to scan and copy. The next model up, the 9120-CN adds fax capability and the top priced machine, the MFC-9320CW, offers wireless connectivity and the same direct USB interface.
