In a release issued October 6 on the Lexmark corporate website, they announced the release of ten new laser printers for small to large businesses and workgroups. The most unique out of the ten new models is the T656dne, a monochrome laser printer (single function, 8.5" x 11" max) boasting a 7" color touch screen and access to a variety of business applications. The apps include:
Forms and Favorites - reduces waste with preprinted forms
Eco Settings - increases energy savings and cuts down on wasted paper and toner
Showroom - shows the potential uses of the touch screen as a communications medium
Change Background - enables a company to personalize the machine with a corporate logo
Change Language - for companies with multilingual employees, the language of the menus can be changed on demand
The Lexmark T656dne Printer
can print an astounding 55 pages per minute and includes an internal 80GB hard drive for storage and applications.
Three of the other models released were aimed at businesses that print at a high volume, but can not afford the printers at the highest price point. Two of the three are color models, the Lexmark X546dtn color laser MFP and the Lexmark C546dtn color laser printer. They both feature Lexmark's Duo Drawer standard which gives them an input capacity of 900+ sheets of paper, which is more than their competitors. The Lexmark E462tdn is the monochrome printer in this trio and comes with a 250-page additional tray right out of the box and the original toner cartridge yields 18,000 pages.
The remaining six printers are aimed at larger companies, and can print up to 11" x 17" paper. The series is called the Lexmark X860de

features such finishing options as hole-punching, offset stacking, as well as a "Booklet Finisher" will fold documents. The input capacity is expandable all the way up to 5,100 sheets with Dual Input and High-Capacity feeder options, and the print yield is close to 35,000 pages.
