Wisconsin Getting a Little Greener

According the the Associated Press, the governor of Wisconsin signed a bill into law to reduce the dumping of “e-waste” into landfills. “E-waste” includes such things as video displays, computers, and printers.

By passing this legislation, Governor Jim Doyle makes Wisconsin the eighteenth state to pass such a law. Some of the nearby states that have done this are Illinois and Minnesota. With this bill, manufacturers are required to arrange for the proper recycling and disposal of their consumer electronics products. The disposal of “e-waste” is a problem because of the toxic materials such as mercury, lead, and PCBs.
