Page Yield Comparison Chart: Popular Inkjet Models

New York, NY -- We have written a lot about ink yields and prices of ink, however we have not put together into a single piece, a review of the ink yields you get from a variety of vendors. They have worked hard to develop ISO standards for print speed, however no such standards exist for ink. Here are some the of latest and greatest inkjet printers along with their ink and yields. We have taken care to include four models that could be used for home or home office use as well as four models which are geared towards heavier, inkjet printing environments.

Analysis

In the lower end models for home and home office use, as far as the black cartridge goes, Kodak did have the lowest cost overall for both with costs of 3.1 cents and 2.6 cents for standard and high capacity, respectively. With color printing, Kodak’s cost was not only higher per page than anyone else’s, but Brother, HP, and Epson printers all feature single-color ink tanks. HP had the lowest overall cost at 3.3 cents for standard capacity cartridge and 2.3 cents for high-capacity.

For the business-oriented models all of the OEMs, HP, Lexmark, Epson, and Brother all have high-capacity cartridges which rival lasers models in cost per page. In fact, for Epson, they don’t offer anything else except those cartridges (aside from the starter ones). Among the standard capacity cartridges for black, HP was the clear winner again, with Epson being the best value for high-capacity. For color ink, Brother had the lowest cost at 2.5 cents, however, their cartridge yields 100 less pages than the next closest competitor, HP (2.9 cents). Brother and HP were tied for the lowest cost per page at 1.9 cents for each of their colors, but this time the difference in yield was substantial—approx. 300 pages—when compared to HP’s.
