New York, NY -- As we have said many times before at Castle Ink, if you take care of your printer, it will last a lot longer. Nothing will keep your printer running forever, but this will at least help keep it running as long as it is supposed to.
For Inkjet Printers:
Before you do anything to the inside of your printer, make sure it is unplugged.
Clean off any splotches of ink first. This can be done with a cotton cloth dabbed with alcohol or water.
You can also use an air can to try and blow out any debris.
Never use a vacuum cleaner to clean out your printer. li>
Finally you can clean your ink cartridges as well by dabbing a cloth in some alcohol and gently rubbing the area where the ink dispenses.
For Laser Printers:
Before you do anything to the inside of your printer, make sure it is unplugged.
The first thing to do is to remove your toner cartridge. Any excess toner inside the machine (not on the cartridge itself) can be vacuumed out with a special “toner vacuum”. They can cost a fair bit of money, but it is a lot safer than using a regular vacuum cleaner, no matter how safe you are.
For the toner cartridge itself, use a toner cleaning cloth.
Never clean the corona wire, a thin wire that hangs in your printer, with a vacuum. Instead, clean it with a cotton swab. li>
