Common Printer Errors: Printer not set as default

If you are getting an error message that says your printer is not set as the default printer in Windows 9x, NT, 2000, or ME try the steps below to correct the problem.

Go to the “Start” menu and select “Control Panel.” From the “Control Panel” select “Printers.”

If the printer is in the list, highlight it and right-click the icon. From there you can select “Set as Default.”

If there are no printers, or the printer you wish to use is not in the list of printers, you may need to try re-installing the printer. To do this, connect the printer, turn it on, and in the “Printers” menu that you opened earlier, choose to “Add a Printer.” Follow the steps in the Wizard. You will need the drivers, which you can download from the printer company website.
