Printing Project for Children - Digital Art

Below are two projects using your digital printer and ink that will add an artistic flair to invitations, or greeting cards. These projects can be simple and fun to do with your family.

Invitations: Get out a matte paper with a heavy weight for the number of invitations you want to send. Draw a penciled line across the center of each piece. The line should split the paper by going across the shorter length of the paper. Instruct your child to draw several pictures on the right side of the paper, if you'd like, you can ask them to draw the pictures for specific people. Set up your printer to print in landscape (horizontal) style and print a title for your invitations over the front. Then, still in landscape, print the instructions for the party or event on the right side of the paper. Fold you invitations so the picture is on the outside, put it in an envelope and send you customized invites!

Greeting Cards: For this, choose a glossy paper. Choose a photo of your family or of something your family loves, and use Photoshop or the software your printer came with to position the photo with text on a background. Most programs will allow you to select using shortcut keys (ctrl and "a" together) so you don't have to know every tool. Paste the picture and text onto your design. Print a test card first to be sure you have the orientation right. If not, change the layout in print properties.
