You can expect the same amount of ink in a refilled ink cartridge as you would have in a brand new, store-bought cartridge. Actually in most cases your refilled ink cartridge will contain MORE ink than the original. If you are refilling the economy version of the HP ink cartridge, good news, the cartridge that you bought with 19-20 ml in it originally can be refilled to 40-42 ml! (This also goes for the HP 51645 series and many of the color cartridges too.) In terms of the number of print outs you can expect, that is going to depend on what you are printing. If you are just printing text, you can expect the ink cartridges to last much longer than if you were printing photos.
