New York, NY -- According to an article posted on the PC Magazine website, Samsung has now released a wireless laser multifunction printer aimed at small business owners, home offices, and regular home users. The SCX-4623FW has a very compact design so it won’t take up too much desk space, which is always at a premium in the settings for which it is designed. It measures just 12.6 inches by 16.4 inches by 16.1 inches (HxWxD) and weighs just over 25 lbs. For those concerned with appearance of your printer in addition to functionality, you are in luck. The all-black exterior of the SCX-4623fw makes it a stylish edition to any office.
Probably the nicest feature of this printer is its ability to connect to a wireless network with a single touch of a button. Once you press the WPS button on the router and then on the printer, says PC Magazine, the printer will automatically connect. Another nice feature of this device is Samsung’s AnyWeb Print software which works much like SmartWeb Printing from HP. While using the software, users can literally select what content they really need and drag and drop it onto a blank web page for either saving or printing.
The printer should be reasonably fast, with a top printing speed of 23ppm. It also comes with a 250-sheet capacity input tray which is closed off to lessen the chance of dust collecting on your paper. It is part of Samsung’s S.T.A.R. program as well as being Energy Star compliant.
The SCX-4623fw is a monochrome laser, so it only uses one toner cartridge which comes in two different page yield levels. The high-yield toner cartridge, the
MLT-D 105L, runs $74.99 and yields 2,500 pages for a cost per page of 3 cents per page. The standard toner cartridge, the MLT-D105S, runs $62.99 and yields 1,500 pages for a cost per page of 4.2 cents per page.
The SCX-4623fw is due out in late June 2010 and costs $249.99.
