Samsung Announces the Smallest Printer

Samsung Electronics has announced that they will release the smallest color laser printer this month; it will be available from Samsung Gulf Electronics. The CLP-315 is the lightest and smallest color laser printer in the world to date.

It is both quiet and fast, perhaps making it the best simple small office printer for getting small jobs done with minimal impact. It is about 15X12”, approximately the size of a mid-size modern laptop. It uses toner, and is Energy Star compliant.

Laser printers project the image to be output onto a drum, charging the drum with the inverse of the image, the image is then transferred to the paper through heat and contact using dry ink, commonly known as toner. This means laser printers are fast, but typically the color versions cost more than their inkjet counterparts. The CLP-315 is priced at only $199.
