New York, NY -- In a recent report, industry analysis firm, Markets and Markets is predicting strong growth for wide-format printing, reaching over $12 billion by 2016 according to the Recycler. The report itself is entitled Global Large (Wide) Format Inkjet Printer Market Forecast by Width, Hardware, Media and Ink 2011 – 2016.
If it does indeed reach that level, the industry will have fully rebounded from the economic recession which began in 2008. This news is certainly not surprising to us at Castle Ink. We have been following wide-format for some time now, and the advances we’ve seen have been numerous. Take, for example. industry disruptor Memjet. In a short time (since 2007), Memjet recruited and developed a team dedicated to wide-format printing. Over these last five years, through the development of their amazing printhead and industry advances, their technology is now front and center moving forward.
Another good example of the wide-format change is HP. Their Designjet series of printers as well as their eMFP series provides wide-format customers a level of connectivity that they had not had previously had in the industry. The printers do not require drivers, so users can literally walk right up and print what they need. They also come with HP’s ePrint and share, which, according to Emre Ozguc of HP,
“Users can access their large format content via their iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch mobile device and initiate a print to any web-connected printer remotely from wherever they are. For example, an architect who is stuck in traffic and forgot to bring one of his drawings can send the print job to the customer site and have it printed and waiting there while his taxi sits at a red light.”
And those are just some of the many examples of leading edge technology that exist in wide-format today. As the technology advances, wide-formats are keeping up, and leading the way in some areas as well.
