Rochester, NY -- It was announced last Thursday that Xerox will be hiring 500 new people to work at its New York-based Webster facility. They anticipate the jobs will be filled through job fairs beginning in March 2012.
The jobs will be in a newly remodeled customer care center, each with an average salary around $25,350. These new jobs come as part of an agreement between city officials in Rochester and Xerox to aid in the economic development of the area. All the positions are expected to be filled during the next two years. Xerox for their part has invested $4.3 million and in return, they have been promised $5 million in state tax credits, a $1 million state grant, and $271,000 in tax breaks from the local council. To receive these, Xerox must meet certain target investment and hiring milestones.
