Rochester, NY -- Just announced by Xerox, the latest innovation in their ever-popular WorkCentre line is the 3550 MFP. Offering its users speeds of up to 35ppm, this 4-in-1 (print, scan, copy, fax) device is aimed at SMBs. With its maximum monthly print volume of 75,000 images per month, it should be able to handle just about anything even a busy office or workgroup can throw at it. The standard resolution of the print jobs is 600 x 600 dpi.
In terms of its paper handling, it comes with a 60-page ADF in its base configuration and can hold up to 550 sheets of paper at a time. Through the purchase of an additional 500-sheet tray, the maximum capacity is 1,050 sheets.
The machine is not as big as you might expect for a laser MFP with these capabilities. It measures 21.8 x 22.9 x 19.2” (HxWxD). Also, worth noting is its Energy Star qualification and a 1 year warranty with Xerox’s “Total Satisfaction Guarentee”. The Xerox site says it is compatible with Windows XP and Vista, but not Windows 7, so users of that OS will want to check before purchasing this machine. Other compatible operating systems include Apple (though it doesn’t specify and sublisting) as well as Linux.
The 3550 comes network ready out of the box, but can also be connected to your machine via USB cable which is thankfully included. I guess they figured they ought to throw that in considering the 3550’s $1,099 base price tag.
