New York, NY -- In the latest chapter of MPS success stories for Xerox, news comes from the United Kingdom where the Newport City Council (NCC) reports substantial savings, thanks to Xerox.
The move towards MPS came as part of an overall re-structuring of the IT infrastructure in Newport. By using Xerox’s expertise, the council was able to reduce the amount of IT resources needed as well as lower the cost of printing pages. With the system in place, the 3,000 employees of the council are now able to “print or scan to any device across the council’s multiple sites, and a mobile printing solution is being piloted as well with the help of the OEM.”
Before Xerox came in to do their analysis, the NCC had 250 devices across their locations. Now, that number has been reduced to 119 MFPs, which includes some of Xerox’s eco-friendly ColorQube units. This has drastically cut the amount of energy required to run the printing of the NCC as well as reduce their printing waste.
Putting MPS solutions in place, in addition to cost savings (the move saved them £90,000/almost $141,000 USD), is also about time savings. Xerox’s MPS, and those of other providers like Lexmark and HP, are all designed to take the worry and stress out of printing, and allow customers to focus on their business, whatever that might be. In this case, it has allowed the NCC to re-focus on the provisioning of services to their community.
