Xerox Solid Ink - What is Solid Ink?

Produced exclusively by Xerox, solid ink consists of blocks of toxin-free ink that will not stain your clothes or your skin. It is resin-based, somewhat like a crayon, so anyone can handle the sticks of ink safely. Xerox maintains that 100% of the ink they produce is inspected, as opposed to statistical sampling. These inks are made specifically for solid ink printers, so they can not be used in laser jet or inkjet printers. Unlike inkjets and laser jets which soak the paper , these solid ink printers use a combination of heat and pressure to fuse the ink onto the paper which results in a vivid and long lasting impression. Solid ink is also more eco-friendly because it requires no wasted packaging or a cartridge. Xerox has made a real effort to "go green" with these cartridges. That said, this technology is not inexpensive, making it very hard for businesses without a lot of capital to change the way they print.
