"I believe that keeping our environment clean is extremely important for our future. I believe that we can do our part by recycling plastic bottles and other recyclable materials at our home and in our community. That is why once or twice a week I volunteer about an hour of my time after school to collect the recycling bins at my school. There are bins in every room that are for recycling paper and I collect all of it and dump it into a special dumpster only for recyclable materials. I also plan on going to college to be an engineer and may possibly work on green technology."

"Recycling, reusing, and reducing is something my community and I try to do on a daily basis. At my school we have recycling bins in every classroom and as apart of a community we help sort them daily. We promote using cloth bags instead of plasic bags. We raise awareness for the dangers of not recycling and after dances and football games we help pick up trash and recyclables. At home, we reuse our clothing instead of throwing them out when it does not fit i lend them to my younger siblings and cousins or the local Salvation Army. Instead of throughing away plasic bags from the market we reuse them for our lunches. Making sure that our community recycles, reuses and reduces is something we all work for daily."

"It is hard to pass by thought school without ever seeing a piece of paper lodged on some bush or bottled cans on the floor around trash cans. I take part of this great society and efforts made possible to recycle a reuse so many of the products we use in our daily life. I contribute to the effort of keeping a green earth clean and using material wisely and recyclable by simply collecting bottled cans of the ground and soda cans while I walk to and from school every day. It is easy to throw something on the floor but harder to pick up, but that never stops me from doing the world a favor without being told to do something or receive something in return. I try to make my day count by walking different streets and look for more every time I am downtown. Sometimes I can’t believe that there would be some much stuff lying around when we as people can reuse it again and again. I simply say that “I love this earth too much and there will never be one just like it, so that is why I’ll cherish what I have now because it is my joy to view and keep clean”. I always try to have a trash bag to help me carry anything I find on the ground, even if it is not recyclable. I help with my role and hope by my example that everyone else will tag along and help me and others do a favor to recycle what we have now here in our life. "

"When i was younger, my families efforts to reduce, reuse, and recycle were shown through taking a few bottles to the store for change; we were not environmentally friendly. Im not sure of the precise moment when we became environmentally friendly, but it was a turning point for my family. Instead of taking a juice box every day to school, my brother and I now take water bottles and refill them every day with tap water; this not only reduces the amount of garbage we have, but also reuse's the water bottles. We also wash out, and clean peanut butter jars and other similar jars for storing other foods, and when they become old, we recycle them. Making an effort to reduce, reuse, and recycle is incredibly important to our society and everyone needs to begin taking action and being a part of an environmentally friendly world. "

"Every time there is trash in and around the house, I will always look for ways to recycle whatever I can. I will go on line to try and see what is recyclable and what is not. I call my trash company to ask for a separate container that I can put the recyclable material for them to pick up. I try and monitor where the trash material is put in the house to make sure that it is not mixed with recyclable material. Now, everybody in the house knows what to recycle and what not to and that makes me vey proud. I have tried to install water saving faucets in the house to minimize water wastage and also seal all the water leakage areas in the house. I have also introduced some timers in the showers where in five minutes something will alert you that you have spent enough time in the shower and you need to be getting ready to leave. This are some of the measures that i have introduced to recycle and also reduce."
