Which Epson ink cartridge does my printer use?

Check the number on your old cartridge (212, 220, 252, 410, 802 and so on) or find your printer model in the finder table above. Epson groups printers by series: Epson 212 for the WorkForce WF-2830/2850 and Expression XP-4100, Epson 252 for the WorkForce WF-3620/3640/7710, and Epson 802 for the WorkForce Pro WF-4720/4730/4740. Standard or XL: which is cheaper per page?

XL. Standard and XL cartridges in the same family fit the same printer, but XL holds much more ink. An Epson 212 black is rated for about 175 pages; the 212XL black is rated for 500. Because Epson printers use a little ink from every color during cleaning cycles, the larger size also means fewer replacements.

Remanufactured vs. original Epson ink

A remanufactured cartridge reuses a genuine Epson shell and chip. It is cleaned, refilled with new ink and tested before it ships, so it installs the same way and matches the original's page yield at a much lower price.

Epson-specific tips

Epson printers need a working cartridge in every color slot, even to print black only, so replace an empty color promptly. Epson's printhead is built into the printer, not the cartridge, so don't leave the printer sitting with a slot empty. EcoTank models use ink bottles, not cartridges. Epson Ink FAQs

Will remanufactured ink work in my Epson printer?

Yes. Epson printers accept remanufactured cartridges. You may see a non-genuine ink message the first time; confirm it and printing continues. To avoid problems after a firmware update, turn off automatic firmware updates in the printer settings.

I have an Epson EcoTank. Which ink do I need?

EcoTank printers are refilled from ink bottles, not cartridges. The bottle number (for example 502, 522 or 542) is printed on the bottle and inside the printer's tank cover.

Why won't my Epson print black when a color is empty?

Epson printers require a working cartridge in every slot before they will print anything. Replace the empty color and printing resumes.

Will using remanufactured ink void my Epson warranty?

No. Under the U.S. Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, Epson cannot void your printer warranty just because you used third-party ink.

What should I do if my Epson says the cartridge isn't recognized?

Remove the cartridge, check that all tape is off, press it firmly into place until it clicks, and power-cycle the printer. If it still isn't recognized, contact us and we'll replace it.
