So you have decided to try refilling your own inkjet cartridges
Here are four reasons to feel good about refilling. We will then give you a quick lesson in additive color theory just in case you are interested:
1. You are recycling your inkjet cartridge. We all have to do what we can to help our world cope with growing populations. Every bit helps.
2. You are using your power as a consumer to make a statement to legalized forms of monopolization. You are telling the inkjet manufacturer's that they cannot bully you into buying their products and you have the right as a consumer to buy any product you want to.
3. You are creating a new industry. By saying no to the manufacturers you are helping create jobs, employ people and spread your purchasing power to other areas.
4. You are saving an incredible amount of money. We are sure you feel good about that already! We leave this one until last because we assume this is why you are here, but quite frankly the cost savings measure little to the other things you are accomplishing by refilling your cartridges.
We would like to repeat two of the most common questions and concerns that our potential customers have. They are as follows:
Will refilling my cartridge void my printer's warranty?
NO. Federal law prohibits any company or person from requiring you to purchase only their product. The Federal Trade Commission protects your right as a consumer to purchase the product or service of your choice.
If anybody tells you that they will void your warranty if you use a refill product or compatible/re-manufactured product, tell them your rights as a consumer are protected under the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Federal Trade Commission Improvement Act, Subparagraph C, Section 101.
In fact you can fax or recite it to them yourself!
Magnuson-Moss Warranty Improvement Act United States Code Annotated Title 15 Commerce and Trade Chapter 50 Consumer Product Warranties 15 Section 2302.
No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied warranty of such product on the consumer's using, in connection with such product, any article or service (other than article or service provided without charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade or corporate name; except that the prohibition of this subsection may be waived by the commission if: The warrantor satisfies the Commission that the warranted product will function properly only if the article or service so identified is used in connection with the warranted product, and the Commission finds that such a waiver is in the public interest.
What this means to printer users!
This means that the manufacturer of the printer you are using cannot void the warranty on your printer because you use a cartridge or refill kit manufactured by someone other than the printer manufacturer. This prohibition includes the use of compatible cartridges, clip-ons, continuous feeding mechanisms, refill kits, ink, etc.
Will I be able to do it and produce the same results as my OEM cartridge?
Yes and Yes. The instructions are step by step and guide you through the process. They are written and designed for the lay person (you) and have been improved over the years by thoughtful customers who give us feedback (which we encourage).
